CNY Game Devs

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is CNY Game Devs?

A community of people in Central New York who make games or want to learn how: programmers, artists, designers, writers, composers, students and the game-dev curious. We meet up regularly in the Utica/Rome/Syracuse area and hang out on Discord in between.

How do I join?

Create an account on the Join Us page. An organizer reviews new accounts (usually within a day or two) so the member directory stays a real community. You can fill out your profile right away. Joining the Discord doesn't need an account.

Is it free?

Yes. Meetups and the site are free. Some venues or jams run by partners may have their own fees, which we'll say on the event page.

I'm a beginner. Is this for me?

Absolutely. Pick the "Game Dev Curious" role on your profile and come to a meetup. Lots of members are happy to show you their tools or help you get a first project running.

How do I post a project, blog entry or devlog?

From your dashboard. Blog posts and devlog entries are checked by an organizer before they appear on the site; once you've posted a few, an organizer can mark your account as trusted so they go live immediately.

How do I get my event on the calendar?

Submit it from your dashboard under Events. Organizers approve member-submitted events. You can enable registration so members can sign up and you get an attendee list.

Why isn't my profile showing in the member directory?

Either your email isn't confirmed yet (check your inbox for the confirmation link) or an organizer hasn't approved the account yet. Your dashboard shows which.

How do I delete my account?

Email [email protected] and we'll remove it; a self-service option is on the way. See the Privacy Policy.

Who runs the site?

The site is run by Cyborg Interactive on behalf of the community. Questions, ideas or problems: use the contact form or email [email protected].
