CNY Game Devs (cnygamedevs.com)
Last updated: October 11, 2026
CNY Game Devs is a place for people in Central New York to show what they're making, learn from each other, and find collaborators. This policy says what you can and can't post. It applies to everything on the Site: profiles, bios, avatars, projects, devlogs, blog posts, portfolio items, event listings, and anything in your resume or links. It applies whether the item is public, members-only, or private.
If you also use our Discord server, its rules apply there.
What Belongs Here
- Games, prototypes, jams, tools, art, music, writing, and design work you've made or contributed to
- Devlogs, postmortems, tutorials, and honest write-ups of what worked and what didn't
- Events for the local game-dev community, whether or not we host them
- Looking-for-group posts and collaboration requests
- Work in progress. It does not have to be finished or good.
Games can have mature themes. A horror game with blood is fine. See the next section for where the line is.
Not Allowed
Harassment and hate
- Harassing, threatening, bullying, or demeaning anyone, on or off the Site
- Content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age
- Posting someone's private information (address, phone number, workplace, legal name they don't use publicly) without their consent
Illegal and dangerous content
- Anything illegal under United States or New York law
- Sexual content involving minors, in any form, including drawn or generated. We report this to NCMEC.
- Content that promotes real-world violence or self-harm
- Malware, cracks, key generators, or links to pirated software or assets
Sexually explicit content
- Pornographic images, video, or text. Mature games may be described and linked with a clear content warning, but explicit material must not be hosted on the Site.
Dishonesty
- Passing off someone else's work, art, music, or code as your own
- Posting licensed assets in a way the license doesn't allow
- Impersonating a person, studio, publisher, or organization
- Fake events, fake credentials, or misleading claims about a project
Spam and commercial abuse
- Unsolicited advertising, affiliate links, crypto or NFT promotions, "opportunities," or recruiting for multi-level marketing
- Repeated or bulk posting of the same thing
- Using the member directory to build mailing lists or send mass messages
You may absolutely link to your own game's store page, your Patreon, or your studio. The line is whether you're part of the community sharing your work, or someone using the community as an audience.
Copyright
Only post what you have the right to post. If you use licensed assets, follow the license. If you're sharing team work, make sure your teammates agree. Copyright complaints are handled under our Copyright & DMCA page, and accounts that draw repeated valid complaints will be terminated.
Enforcement
Organizers review every new account before it becomes visible, and can review any content at any time. Depending on the problem we may:
- Ask you to edit or remove something
- Remove the content ourselves
- Set your account back to pending or decline it
- Permanently ban you from the Site and the Discord server
We try to be proportionate and to talk to people first, but serious violations (hate, threats, sexual content involving minors, doxxing) result in an immediate ban with no warning. We aim to act on reports within 5 business days.
Reporting
If you see something that breaks these rules, email [email protected] with a link to the content and a short description. (A report button on each page is planned.) For copyright complaints, use the process on the Copyright & DMCA page.
